La apertura cubana
Alexis Romay (Author)
An American airplane is hijacked and forced to land in Cuba. Before returning the plane and the hostages back home, the Cuban authorities question the identity of one of the passengers. Transcripts of her interrogation alternate with diary entries of a teenager attending a military boarding school in Havana during the 1980s. With nods to A Thousand and One Nights, T.S. Eliot, the Cuban literary canon, chess, Argentinian pop rock and revolutionary kitsch, La apertura cubana weaves a tapestry with the lives of these two women. The job of the interrogators —and of anyone who opens the novel— is to untangle the threads that connect them.
